Why I Haven't Bought Dead Space 2

And no, not because I'm afraid my mom will hate it. My mother used to really like the Quake series and plays all sorts of video games so I really doubt she'd have a problem with a game being a little bit violent.

The thing is that if a game is trying to sell through telling us our mothers will hate it and that it's cool then it probably isn't that good of a game. Actually when all they have to say about it is that then it's like it doesn't even try to be a good game, it seems like it just aims at being as violent as possible like that's all a good game is and it really isn't.

I liked Dead Space 1 though I have yet to purchase it but sequels are generally not as good as their predecessor and that commercial pretty much proves it. There is no mention of what the game is about or anything, just that it's really violent and cool. Really, thinking people above the age of 15 (the game has got an 18+ rating) will buy the game for such silly reasons is stupid.

Bioshock 2

I spent most of today playing it. I've played it a lot but I am still horribly bad at it. So far I have only managed to complete easy mode but yeah, It's still awesome (the first one as well of course). It's not Bioshock in particular but First Person Shooters in general I think but since Bioshock is the only FPS I have really played (and not just played-a-few-minutes-at-friends-house-played) so I can't really tell. I'm getting better at it though, I haven't died a single time on this playthrough and finished like five levels (I think).

The weapons are really fun, especially the plasmids. Telekinesis isn't all that unusual anymore and I don't know if it's just me but I can't really make it useful but the Electric Attack is both awesome and very practical. I also quite like the drill weapon despite it being a meele weapon in a game full of guns, perhaps because I don't have to aim, but the machine gun is my favorite I think, effective and fun to use. I don't really like the shotgun though.

I always play as at least a fairly good guy and always save the little sisters. I guess I should try harvesting them on some playthrough to se the "bad" ending and if it has got any other effects on the playthrough but I don't really feel like it, it's just sort of pointless. I mean I can justify killing the NPCs but I really don't like the idea of killing brainwashed children just to get some upgrade quicker.

This post most likely doesn't make any sense if you haven't played Bioshock but if you haven't I strongly recommend it. The story and atmosphere is amazing and the gameplay is really fun. I guess if I really wanted you to play it I would at least tell you what it is about but really, you can just google it. My explanation would probably suck anyway.

Oblivion, I Guess

The Elder Scrolls IV AKA Oblivion, I purchased it

In october last year, when my internet wasn't working and I had the worst freaking cold ever and couldn't go outside and had absolutely nothing to do.

I installed it today.

I feel a bit bad about neglecting it like that, I bought five games and the other four have been installed months ago, I can't help but wonder what made me ignore Oblivion.

As for my opinion of it I just started playing but the world seems nice and character customization too, the latter however is completely pointless as the game is played in first person view. The controls are weird, I do not understand how I am supposed to talk to people or examine things, all I know how to do is hit things (I should probably read the manual). Also I find windowed mode utterly pointless since the game crashes if you try to change activity, I man what?
The world is pretty, though I have barely seen it yet...
Oh and one more thing, why are there two CDs of it? I only needed one to install and play the game so what is the second one? I am confused

The Sims 3

I can't learn to love it the way I love The Sims 2, I just can't! I am really trying, spending time and effort on creating my very own world in the incredibly stupid and overly complicated world creator program provided by EA Entertainment to get the feeling that I am creating a world of my own but it's just not the same thing.

You see, for me The Sims was never a Simulation of Real Life, to me it was about playing god. Creating my very own town, decide the destiny of everyone living there and so on. This is utterly impossible in The Sims 3.
Pictured: A world better than what I am creating. Credit to the creator of it, it probably took months (yes, really)

You can only control one family at time just like in The Sims 3 but the difference here is that you aren't supposed to play on more than one family in each neighborhood, making it nearly impossible to make your own individualized worlds. You can create several families for each town but while you're playing with one family the other families are off ruining their lives by choosing retarded careers (they do this even if you turn off story mode) or leaving their wife to live in a crappy house in the mountains together with three babies, apparently the sims children despite no woman being involved in their birth.

The Sims 3 has got many good sides, the interactions are realistic and the Traits you can choose for your sims are awesome, if you're comfortable with not being in total control of everything and like a "living world" I'm sure it's great but for control freaks like me nothing will beat The Sims 2.
